Failed to slide down a mountain

I took RTD and Summit Stage to Breck Nordic Center today.

I left Englewood Station on the D Line about 8:40.  Had a 10 minute wait for the E Line, got to Union Station and discovered I had to download the Bustang app to buy tickets, so I did.  The Bustang left right on time, and made it up the mountain in the predicted 2 hours.  It was sunny and dry on the east side of the Tunnel, and WINTER on the west side!  Heavy snow, you could hardly see across the valley.

I saw a doe browsing just before Georgetown, and a hawk somewhere on the outbound, but I don't remember exactly where.

We got to Frisco Transit Center and I had to go around and ask bus drivers which bus went to Frisco Nordic Center.  The nice man in the first bus in line told me where and when to wait, and I had a half hour, so I went across the street and got a sandwich, and made it back in time.  The driver of the right bus confirmed, but forgot to call my stop, and the busses on that route have shaded windows, and the stops aren't well marked, so I missed Frisco and wound up going to Breck.  When he heard me asking another passenger if I had missed my stop, the driver came back at the next stop, apologized profusely, and told me I could get of at the next stop  and catch the downhill bus in about 20 minutes.  I had originally planned to go to Breck, so I kept going.

I got there, got the skis, and took off.  I didn't fall, but neither did I glide more that a few inches.  I skied, but not well.

I only had about an hour and a half before I had to head back down, but an hour on skis was all I needed to completely exhaust myself.

I made it back to Frisco Transit at 4:16 for a 4:40 Bustang down the hill.  The Bustang made it at 5:05.  Several of us had gone to the appointed place and wound up waiting in cold wind and snow.

We got to Union Station on time, after having gone through severe snow again before the Tunnel.  It was winter all the way to Georgetown on the way back.

I got the E train right out of the gate, but had to wait almost 40 minutes for the D.  Again in the cold, but at least it wasn't snowing yet.

I was so glad to see my little car!

I want to go skiing again, but I think I'll stay the night in Frisco next time.  I don't have legal tires, and don't want to be driving on a mountain road in that kind of snow, but 10 hours is a bit much for 2 hours on the mountain!

Oh, and RTD SUCKS!
